Windows 8

Microsoft is set to roll out five security updates as part of June 2013 Patch Tuesday, which takes place today June 11th. Of the five updates, only one is labeled as Critical, the most severe level of updates. On top of the Critical update, there will also be four Important updates.

The majority of the updates deal with Microsoft’s Windows operating system, from Windows XP to Windows 8 and Windows RT. One of the Important updates deals with Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011. These updates address remote code execution, elevation of privilege, information disclosure, and denial of service vulnerabilities.

Aside from security fixes, Microsoft is also set to release firmware updates for Surface RT and Surface Pro. Microsoft has already promised that the Touch and Type Covers would receive an update that adds better Function key functionality for those who own a Surface device. So stay tuned for this update!

These updates roll out June 11th so keep an eye out on Windows Update to snag these security fixes. If you have automatic updates enabled, then you should be good!
