Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore, Corporate VP of Microsoft’s Operating Systems Group, has taken it to Twitter today to confirm that Windows 10 wil indeed be available for 512MB Windows Phone devices. According to Belfiore, Microsoft’s ambition is to make Windows 10 available for these devices, but features will most likely vary.
Belfiore also revealed that only a ‘subset’ of phones will receive the initial Windows 10 for phones preview build when it gets released to Windows Insiders later this month. More devices, including the Lumia 520, will be able to run Windows 10 at a later date. In other words, when Windows 10 for phones is released to Windows Insiders, don’t be surprised if it only works on a handful of devices.
Microsoft promised that we would see a preview build of Windows 10 for phones “in February” so it is only a matter of time before we get to test it. Belfiore explains that Microsoft needs to complete internal testing before they can seed it out to eager testers.

Timing for various phones may be variable as well. When we first launch insider program, it’ll be a subset of phones with more coming latr
