Internet Explorer 11 now syncs passwords between Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows PC

Internet Explorer has added a bevy of new features over its last few updates. Recently it added yet another exciting feature – the ability to synchronize passwords for websites across devices.

In simple terms, what it means is that a password entered on Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) on your Windows desktop or laptop will be automatically migrated to the IE11 browser on your Windows Phone 8.1 handsets.

Besides that, IE11 will also be able to detect login pages, prompting users to save passwords more easily and more often. Also, the browser gives you full control over when you want a password to be saved.

With Internet Explorer, Windows will use your IE passwords for the same domain hosted on the Store app by a technology called Web Authentication Broker.

Password syncing is a handy feature that users are going to appreciate. This feature has been available on Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox for quite some time now, and it’s good to see Internet Explorer racing up to them.

This password syncing feature has been available for a short while now, with the release of Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview and the availability of IE11 on Windows 8.1. If you have yet to try it out, we suggest you do so. It’s a convenient feature!
