Instagram BETA update brings Lock Screen support to Windows Phone app

The popularity of Instagram shows no signs of declining, and the Windows Phone apps continues to prove very popular. Today an updated version of the beta app hit the Windows Phone Store and there’s a new feature that users have been asking for for some time – Lock Screen support.

Yep… don the party hats, fill your glass and prepare to celebrate, for the day has finally arrived; it is now possible to view Instagram on your Lock Screen.  Forget spending time thinking about what image you would like to use to adorn your phone, Instagram BETA 0.4.0.0 can take care of it for you!

As you would expect, once the feature is enabled, the app will display pictures from the people you follow or your own feed. The Windows Phone Store listing for the app does not include a changelog, but this does appear to be the only major change of note in this release.

The feature is not enabled by default, so you’ll need to head to setting to switch it one and then choose between displaying My Feed or the Home Feed. But first of all you will need a copy of the app — so head over to the Windows Phone Store using the Download link below to grab your free copy, or perform an update check if you already have the previous version installed.
