India’s HDFC Bank Windows Phone app adds support for Chillr and SmartBuy

The official HDFC Bank Windows Phone app has added support for both Chillr and SmartBuy with its latest update. All three apps are designed for the India market where HDFC Bank is a major player.

The Chillr Windows Phone app is a relatively new app that allows for users to transfer money to contacts in their phone’s address book regardless of the bank they’re currently with. SmartBuy is a service used to promote companies and products through discounts and campaigns in a sort of similar fashion to Groupon in other countries. The addition of support for both of these services doesn’t necessarily improve the actual banking functionality or security of the app but does add a fair bit of content that will keep users in the app longer instead of simply loading it up quickly to check account balances and make a payment.

The app has received quite a few updates since its launch and recently added support for mPIN creation, HDFC Bank location search, and the ability to apply for loans and credit cards from within the app.

Do you use your Windows Phone for banking? Does your bank even have a Windows Phone app? Let us know in the comments below.
