At Ignite 2020, Microsoft revealed some important updates that will be coming to Microsoft Outlook. These improvements include a refreshed Bookings experience and new enhancements for Mobile and Mac.
First off, Microsoft is introducing an updated Bookings experience for Outlook users, delivering a revamped design, new features, and product enhancements. All these updates have been designed to enable customization, giving IT admins more control over the use/deployment of Bookings in their organization.
Next on our list are new enhancements for mobile that are designed to deliver more flexibility and control for remote workers. The company has announced that the Play My Emails feature in Outlook for iOS and Android will soon be available in new markets, including Canada, Australia, India, and the United Kingdom. Moreover, Outlook for iOS will now let users summon Cortana for reading out emails from specific people, topics, and time frame. Some other features coming to Outlook mobile are listed below:
- Voice commands for email composition, calling and scheduling available in October.
- Sync contact folders with your phone by category available in October.
- Reactions to emails with emojis without filling your inbox available later this year.
- QR connect to simplify how you get the app and authenticate your work account available late October.
Finally, the company is bringing some much-needed improvements to its Outlook for Mac app. The new Outlook for Mac experience, which has been designed to enhance performance and reliability, should bring improvements across Search, Mail, and Calendar experiences. It’s powered by Microsoft Sync technology to provide relevant suggestions and insights for users. Microsoft says that users will need to turn on the “New Outlook” toggle to get all these updates.
