Htc confirms that 8x windows phone handset will receive windows phone 8. 1 update

If you use an HTC Windows Phone, there is good news for you. HTC employees did a Reddit AMA a few hours ago and confirmed that the 8X Windows Phone handset will be getting future firmware updates.

Alongside, promising timely updates on all North American flagship devices, the smartphone manufacturer confirmed that it is in talks with Microsoft about Windows Phone 8.1, also known as the Blue update, for its Windows Phone 8X. “As strong partners of Microsoft, we’re working with Microsoft on the Blue update on Windows Phone 8X and will continue to take new products into consideration. Nothing concrete right now, but who knows?”, said the executives.

Addressing one user who asked whether HTC was done with Windows Phone, the rep replied, “to say ‘done with Windows Phone’ is a pretty blanket statement. I don’t think a company such as ourselves can ever say that point blank.”

Windows Phone 8.1 has been making quite a buzz lately. Recently its SDK leaked on the web, and we got a hint of the goods this update will bring along.

We now know for a fact that Sony is working on Windows Phone, can we expect another giant OEM such as HTC to get back in the business? Only time will tell.
