HP Elite x3 set to receive the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile on September 13

The latest Windows 10 Mobile device, the HP Elite x3, does not currently have the Anniversary Update for Windows 10 Mobile. For those who have been using the device, several have chosen to join the Windows Insider program, which allows them to install the Anniversary Update on the device, however, it is not through the official upgrade path.

A new FAQ page on the HP site, as found by WindowsArea, states that the Anniversary Update is scheduled to arrive around September 13th. This isn’t a set-in-stone date, as the information does state “on or about September 13, 2016.”

This comes as good news for Elite x3 owners, as the Anniversary Update brings major improvements to the Windows 10 Mobile experience, which includes items such as Windows Information Protection, which assists in separating personal data from work data, along with Windows Hello improvements for the Iris scanner and improved Universal Windows Apps, with new APIs. It leads to a faster experience with less issues such as crashing and freezing, too.

For those lucky enough to own one of the HP Elite x3 devices, make sure to head to Settings > Update & Security on September 13 to check for the update. As always, we’ll be ready to let you know when it’s available.
