Microsoft has revealed today that the transition from Hotmail to Outlook.com is now officially complete. On top of that, Microsoft has also revealed that there are 400 million active Outlook.com users.
Back in February when Microsoft took Outlook.com out of preview, Hotmail still had over 300 million active accounts. Microsoft has revealed that within 6 weeks, Microsoft was able to migrate everyone from Hotmail over to the new Outlook.com. “This was a major undertaking, given the massive amount of data, emails and photos stored in Hotmail,” Microsoft stated in an official statement to us. Outlook.com now has 400 million active accounts!
Microsoft has also announced two new features for Outlook.com. The first feature is SMTP send, which streamlines the process of sending from an alias without having email recipients see a message that says “Sent on behalf of.” Outlook.com also features deeper SkyDrive integration, which rolls out worldwide in the coming weeks. SkyDrive is further integrated with Outlook.com by allowing users to directly insert files from SkyDrive without having to leave their Outlook.com inbox.
