Hogwarts Legacy has been a smashing success by every estimation since its initial release back in February. Just over two months later, the Warner Bros. Games action-RPG reached a staggering $1 billion in sales, and is likely to be the biggest release of the year. And that a year that has so far been stacked with hot releases. The game’s commercial success has been matched by its critical reception, as seen in our Hogwarts Legacy review roundup.

Earlier this month Hogwarts Legacy finally came to last-gen consoles (excluding on Nintendo Switch, which had its version pushed back for a November release). And going by some of the player stats the game’s official Twitter account published this week, it’s safe to say Hogwarts Legacy’s popularity hasn’t waned much.

According to the post, gamers on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have played over 17 million hours of game time collectively. The other stats are equally impressive.

Despite the controversy surrounding the game, we’ll likely be hearing more from Hogwarts Legacy before all is said and done. HBO is reportedly working on a TV adaptation, and a sequel is already rumored. Given the game’s success, it would not be the least surprising if we get a Hogwarts Legacy 2 announcement at some point in the not-too-distant future.
