Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1 isn’t set to launch until next month, but as the final bits are already afloat on the web, we thought we might as well dive in with a hands on to prepare those who are planning to update to Windows 8.1 in October. We’ve made a 20 minute in-depth video showcasing all the top features you can expect to see later this year, including Start Screen enhancements and more.

Windows 8.1 is a free update for current Windows 8 users which is set to launch next month on new PCs. Our hands on talks about the Start Screen, Search improvements, app updates and desktop enhancements, all of which will be available in October. Windows RT 8.1 is also set to launch around the same time-frame, and we might even have a hands on with that pretty soon too, so keep checking back at WinBeta.

The Windows 8.1 RTM is accessible to everyone who knows where to look today, however Microsoft aren’t ready to release the OS due to bugs which will be patched with hot-fixes and therefore we recommend you wait for the official launch where the OS will be refined. For now though, check out our video for a taste of what’s to come!
