Halo Infinite Season 2 is now live on Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X console families and PCs running either Windows 10 or Windows 11.

The Season 2 update is pretty substantial and contains a massive amount of content ranging from minor gameplay fixes and adjustments to new levels, skins, and even a fresh cinematic experience. Of course, the coolest change is the addition of Microsoft’s Clippy.

The storyline for Halo Infinite’s second season is focused on a group of Spartans referred to as the Lone Wolves. All of their various cosmetics will be available to unlock within the Season Pass which also includes a healthy dose of filler content such as XP boosts and challenge skips, etc.

In total there are around 180 items in the Season 2: Lone Wolves Season Pass, 100 of which will require the purchase of the Season Pass to unlock.

Halo Infinite players who have also purchased the Season 1 pass can switch between both seasons from the game’s menu and choose to unlock whichever season’s items they choose. Unlike other season pass games like Fortnite, there’s no time limit on these passes.

The two new maps, Catalyst and Breaker, should now be live within the map rotation while three new modes have also been added alongside them. These modes are called King of the Hill, Last Spartan Standing, and Land Grab.

Of particular note is Last Spartan Standing which is essentially a battle royale type game mode though only with a group of 12 players as opposed to the 100+ seen in dedicated battle royale games. Having said that, Last Spartan Standing could very much be a type of early test for a much larger, and heavily rumored, battle royale mode that’s set to launch later this year or sometime in 2023.

Another noteworthy change with the Season 2 update is the addition of support for new refresh rates on current-gen Xbox consoles. Xbox Series S consoles have been given a 120hz refresh option while Xbox Series X owners can now choose a 30Hz refresh if they choose.

Two full official and incredibly dense blog posts are available here and here which go into more detail on all of these features and all of the minor changes that hardcore fans will appreciate.
