Hackers are claiming that the popular social networking site Facebook is responsible for large-scale security violations and will be taken down November 5th. These hackers are now looking at Facebook as a target after a large scale underground attack against government agencies.
“Your medium of communication you all so dearly adore will be destroyed. If you are a willing hacktivist or a guy who just wants to protect the freedom of information then join the cause and kill facebook for the sake of your own privacy. Everything you do on Facebook stays on Facebook regardless of your “privacy” settings, and deleting your account is impossible, even if you “delete” your account, all your personal info stays on Facebook and can be recovered at any time,” the hackers stated.
This statement, which is supposedly from the hacker group Anonymous, has yet to be proven for authenticity. Regardless, Facebook has over 750 million users and these hackers are aiming to do us “a favor” by killing off the social networking site.
Security firm Symantec even stated earlier this year that third party advertisers had access to sensitive data of millions of Facebook users for years, but Facebook denied there was any security breach.
