There comes a time in a person’s life when they encounter something or someone who makes them stop, scratch their head, and ask “why?” This is one of those moments. Behold, some brave soul installed a ginormous CPU cooler onto his Surface Pro 3.

Utilizing a Dark Rock CPU cooler, which offers top of the line performance-to-noise ratio, this virtually inaudible double-tower CPU cooler works excellently for overclocked systems and demanding multi-graphic platforms. In other words, it’s designed for that powerhouse PC you have on your desk — you know, the one that has 3 NVIDIA Titan X GPUs in SLI mode.

However, in this case, without any real explanation (at least not yet), we are seeing photos of the Dark Rock CPU cooler being installed right above where the CPU is housed on the Surface Pro 3. With some thermal paste and some masking tape, the cooler holds its own weight perfectly on the Surface Pro 3.

The Surface Pro 3 can get hot from time to time, but this may be taking things a bit too far. We’re expecting to see benchmarks and noise comparisons soon, so stay tuned. In the mean time, check out a few photos of this huge CPU cooler installed on a Surface Pro 3:
