Google has finally backed down and allowed Microsoft some time to implement CalDAV and CardDAV protocols into Windows Phone, as Google have today announced that Exchange ActiveSync support will be extended until July 31st.

CalDAV and CardDAV will allow Windows Phone users to connect to Google services after July 31st, but for now your Google Services will remain working.

The question is how will Microsoft implement CalDAV and CardDAV into Windows Phone, it would have to be via some sort of update. Will 7.8 users get this update too?
