Github now offers Visual Studio Community 2013 free as part of the GitHub Student Developer Pack

Microsoft and GitHub have joined forces for the benefit of student developers by offering Visual Studio Community 2013 free as part of the GitHub Student Developer Pack. GitHub is the home of a strong open source community, featuring students as a central component of the community as well as featuring hundreds of Microsoft projects.

“Today, GitHub and Microsoft are making Visual Studio Community 2013 available as part of the GitHub Student Developer Pack,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. With this Student Pack, students can snag Visual Studio, as well as get offers on Azure and Visual Studio Online, making their development life just a tad bit easier.

Normally, Visual Studio 2013 Community is free for anyone, but it doesn’t end there. Students also get free access to more Microsoft tools and developer offerings via DreamSpark, including SQL Server, training courses, and Windows Store developer accounts. With the GitHub Student Developer Pack, Microsoft is making it easier for students to discover and access what is available via DreamSpark.

Lots of free tools for students! Head over to the VIA link to check out the offer.
