The Mortal Kombat X video game will be available to download and play in full on Xbox One consoles this weekend for Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

The popular fighting game will be free to access from 12:01 a.m. PT on March 7th through to 11:59 p.m. PT on March 10th. As with previous Free Play Weekends, the entire contents of the game will be available to download and access as if the game had been purchased outright. This includes the story mode and online matches.

Mortal Kombat X being made available for free this weekend is part of a larger marketing push for its sequel, Mortal Kombat 11 which is due to launch on Xbox One on April 23rd. Digital pre-orders for Mortal Kombat 11 are currently open and those who do grab it early will be rewarded with access to the Closed Beta and Shao Khan as a playable character.
