Release date is less than a month away now and the developers for Gears of War 4 are celebrating the game finally going gold! Team Coalition, stationed in Canada, have been working on Gears of War 4 diligently since the high impact announcement at E3. The anticipated shooter has some very large shoes to fill from the Gears of War series, but the team and Microsoft seem to be very confident in the final outcome as they announced just yesterday the the game has finished up the final touches of development.
A large event was held in Vancouver, B.C. with figureheads such as Ron Fergusson and Phil Spencer. Fergusson was reported to be exceptionally happy that the big name title was a direct product of the team he leads in his home country of Canada. Phil Spencer also was quoted about his excitement for Gears of War 4’s release:
“Ten years ago, Gears of War was the killer app that brought millions into the Xbox family,” said Spencer. “It’s combination of innovative technology, unique gameplay, and trademark storytelling changed the game forever.”
“With Gears of War 4, I’m very proud of what the team at The Coalition has achieved. Not only is it the most technically ambitious Gears game yet – with split-screen play on both Xbox and Windows 10, Xbox Play Anywhere support, Cross Play across all co-op modes, and available 4K graphics – it’s a return to the grounded, tense and brutal tone that made so many fall in love with this universe, story and characters for the first time.”
Microsoft is also celebrating another step towards their ultimate goal to merge Xbox and Windows 10 into a broader experience. Gears of War 4 is the spearhead title that will ring in the birth of the Xbox Play Anywhere games. Announced at E3, these unique titles will be available to play on PC and Xbox One despite which code you initially buy. Achievements, game saves, and more will all be available to you so that you can switch to whichever platform you want to play on with ease.
The campaign for Gears of War 4 has led to these final weeks as we wait anxiously for the release. You still have time to pre-order the game including all of the previous games for Xbox 360. Or, if you’re a die-hard fan of the series, there’s still the Gears of War 4 Xbox One S bundle that will launch just a few days before the game releases.
Watch out for Gears of War 4 coming to you on Xbox One on October 11.
