There has been some criticism levied at this season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones. Fans of the show have expressed frustration and complaints about the pace of the show, how the television series is diverging from the books and the shows gratuitous use of violence against women. If you are among those unfulfilled by HBO’s recent vision for the show, you might find some solace in creating your version of events for the characters of the series.

Thanks to game developers, Telltale Games, fans of the series have been able to experience choose-your-own-adventure style gameplay with the Game of Thrones story. Telltale’s Game of Thrones is a six part episodic game series that runs parallel with the Game of Thrones series. Players can now participate and interact with characters from the world of the seven kingdoms, through House Forrester. House Forrester are a noble family from the north of Westeros, loyal to the Starks of Winterfell.

Players can now use the Forrester House as their proxy family to engage in warfare, and revenge while they help change the course of history in the seven kingdoms. For fans of recent television phenomenon like the Walking Dead and Game of Thrones, Telltale Games excels at blending great storytelling and casual gameplay. Since most games run alongside actual stories, players can stay abreast of situational plot points without being shackled to predetermined outcomes.

Game of Thrones: Episode 4 – Sons of Winter is now available for both Xbox 360 and the Xbox One game stores. Unfortunately, for newcomers, this is an episodic style game. Game of Thrones Episode 1 is required to receive the latest Episode. There is also a season pass that players can purchase. From experience, there is no question playing through the first three episodes will be worth the time and money.
