The Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion is still nearly a month away, but fans of Playground Games’ open-world racer don’t have to wait to find some new content in the game. That’s because the Forza Horizon 5 Series 9 Update is here, releasing on June 21 on Xbox consoles, Windows PC and Steam.

General fixes, Horizon Stories co-op, and Forza EV Monthly Rivals

In addition to numerous general fixes and improvements to the game – such as the removal of an unintended exploit which allowed players to boost speeds in Speed Zone events by entering photo mode, for instance – Series 9 introduces a number of new features. Among these is a new graphics option called “temporal anti-aliasing”, though it is only available in the PC version.

Series 9 also adds the option to play Horizon Stories in co-op with up to 6 players. There is also a new Forza EV Monthly Rivals event to complement the Monthly Rivals Challenge.

New cars, new racing duds

A slew of new content awaits when the Forza Horizon 5 Hot Wheels expansion arrives on July 19. And with the Forza Horizon 5 Series 9 Update Car Pass holders will get access to three exclusive cars: the 2021 Aston Martin DBX; the 2020 Lexus RC F Track Edition; and the 2019 Nissan 370z Nismo.

Also coming with the Hot Wheels expansion (as part of the Forza Horizon 5 Series 9 Update) will be a number of new clothing items and car horns.

Series 9 will also be host to unique timed events in the Festival Playlist, with unique rewards.

If you haven’t tried Forza Horizon 5 yet, you don’t know what you’re missing out on. This truly next-gen racer is a must-play for any Xbox fan. For the full release notes for Forza Horizon 5 Series 9 Update, you can check them out here.
