Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 3 Delayed Until Mid-June Due To Recent Events – onmsft.com

The next season of the popular Fortnite video game has been delayed a couple of times already but it’s now been delayed once again, this time due to the current events unfolding in the United States.

Instead of the recently announced June 11th launch date, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 will instead debut June 17th. The special The Device event which was set for June 6th has also been delayed. It will now go live on June 15th. Launch dates for both events are the same on Microsoft’s Xbox One consoles, Windows 10 PCs, and all other devices.

“Recent events are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color,” the announcement on the official Fortnite website reads. “We’re acutely aware of the pain our friends, families, team members, players, and communities are experiencing.

“We believe in equality and justice, diversity and inclusion, and that these fundamentals are above politics. The team is eager to move Fortnite forward, but we need to balance the Season 3 launch with time for the team to focus on themselves, their families, and their communities.”

In the meantime, a variety of new challenges have been added to the game for players to complete and a free wallpaper (see above image) has been added to the item shop for everyone to gift to a friend. Players will also have an extra week to unlock all of the gold skins for Season 2’s main characters.

Have you finished all of the extra challenges yet? Let us know in the comments below and then follow us on Pinterest and Facebook for more video game news.
