Fortnite video game’s Valentine’s Day event is now live with loads of free items for gamers

Fortnite’s Valentine’s Day event, names Love and War, is now live for all users on Microsoft’s family of Xbox One consoles and other supported platforms after installing the latest update.

As part of the event, a number of new challenges have appeared which will reward players with a variety of free items in a similar fashion to how the Christmas challenges worked.

A new limited time mode, Search and Destroy, has also been added to Fortnite. This mode will be required to play for several of the event challenges.

Here’s its rules:

A classic Attack and Defend game… Fortnite-ified. Team up to become the best or take down your friends and flex your skills. All is fair in Love and War.

The rules are simple:

  • Teams of 6.
  • Up to 7 rounds. Achieve total victory by winning 4 rounds with your team.
  • Destroy the bomb side (Attackers), Defend the bombsite (Defenders), OR eliminate the enemy team to claim victory.
  • Earn gold by eliminating enemies, planting or defusing objectives and completing rounds. Gold is used to purchase weapons, shields, and additional building materials. Note: Your gold carries over from round to round but resets after switching sides!

In addition to the Love and War content, this latest Fortnite update also added the Unreal Engine changes to the game’s code. While these changes haven’t been activated for everyone yet, they are being tested with a small number of players and the results appear to be mostly visible when looking at the more natural movement of fabrics on the skins.
