Fortnite releases on Amazon Luna today

Massively popular free-to-play online game Fortnite has come to yet another platform. As of today (May 3) Fortnite is available on Amazon Luna.

If you are unfamiliar with Amazon Luna, it is Amazon’s cloud gaming platform and a competitor to the likes of Xbox Cloud Gaming, Nvidia GeForce Now and PlayStation Plus. The game will be available for those with an Amazon Prime subscription as well as with an Amazon Luna+ subscription, which is currently $9.99 a month. A 7-day Amazon Luna+ trial is currently available. (Note that Fortnite is free-to-play on other platforms without the need for a paid subscription).

Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services vice president Daniel Rausch said of Fortnite’s Amazon Luna launch,

Fortnite has been the most requested game from Luna customers in the U.S. and we’re thrilled to bring the title to the service. We’re committed to making gaming more accessible and more affordable, without the need for expensive hardware…Whether it’s AAA titles, retro or classic games, racing games, or family-friendly party games you’re after—there is always something interesting to play on Luna.”

The release comes just in time for the latest update, 24.30, which released on May 2. The update brings with it a big Star Wars crossover event and more.
