Documents shown during the ongoing Epic Games/Apple trial have revealed a host of content that has yet to appear within the mega-popular video game that’s playable on Windows PCs, Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles, and a variety of other platforms.
Of particular note is the number of unannounced skins which range from popular movie characters to real-world personalities to even an anime character.
Some of these Fortnite skins include Naruto, Samus Aran from Nintendo’s Metroid franchise, Katniss from The Hunger Games books and movies, John McClane from Die Hard, Kill Bill’s The Bride, The Rock, and Snake Plissken from Escape From New York.
Evidence of a few of these skins, such as The Rock and The Bride, had previously been found by popular Fortnite leakers on Twitter though the rest are a bit of a surprise. However, Fortnite’s recent addition of several anime-inspired skins with cell shading does make a lot more sense now if they were using those skins to test the style before beginning collaborations involving major anime franchises such as Naruto.
It is worth noting though that it’s unclear whether all of the above skins are still intended for release in a future update or if they’ve since been cancelled. Several of them, such as Samus, John McClane, and The Bride, would have been natural fits for the previous season of content which included intergalactic and pop culture hunters such as The Predator, The Terminator, and Sarah Conner for example. Katniss, on the other hand, would fit in perfectly with the current season which has a strong focus on archery.
Of course, Fortnite can also often be rather random with its skin additions so Epic Games could really add anything at any time if they wanted to.
The Fortnite video game is currently in Chapter 2 Season 6 of its story and Battle Pass content which is set to end early next month. The Fortnite Crew Pack for May recently launched and unlocked the Save the World mode for all members though most eyes are on either the Epic Games versus Apple trial or the potential for May the 4th Star Wars content being added sometime later today.
