With Microsoft’s Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition quickly selling out at most retailers this week, it seems that the limited edition console exceeded the company’s expectation for the new console. Of course, Microsoft didn’t share how many Project Scorpio Edition consoles were available for pre-orders, but Xbox Marketing Chief Aaron Greenberg recently told DualShockers that response to the new console has been “overwhelming.”

Microsoft still expects the cheaper Xbox One S to remain the most popular option in the long run, but Greenberg forecasts Xbox One X to be this holiday’s hit product. “We’re gonna make as many Xbox One Xs as we can make,” he explained. “All the signs are that it’s gonna be the number one hit product of this Holiday, so we’re gonna keep up with demand the best that we can.”

Last year, the freshly released Xbox One S was the best-selling console in the US for a couple of months before being overtaken by Sony’s Playstation 4 in the crucial holiday season. It will be interesting to see if Microsoft can beat Sony this year with the most powerful console on the market, with the help of over 100 Xbox One X enhanced games at launch.
