First indie games for Xbox One could arrive in March

Much has been made of the way in which Microsoft is making it easier for independent game developers to produce titles for the Xbox One. It is not long since the first batch of indie developers able to produce games through the [email protected] program was announced but at the time there was no real word about when the first releases might see the light of day.

Now director of [email protected], Chris Charla has revealed that there may not be long to wait and that the first releases could come in the first quarter of 2014 — although it looks as though it may be nearer the end of this quarter than the beginning.

“I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months. I would say closer to the third month. In terms of how many games there will be, it’s hard to say, because they’re still in development.”

Games have been in the works for some time now, but while some are nearing completion, other have rather further to go. “Some developers started developing for Xbox One, others already had games in development and are working on Xbox One versions. I would say they’re at all stages of development, honestly.”

So it looks as though there could just be three months to wait — there are exciting times ahead!
