First image of Cortana on Windows 10 leaked by Chinese OEM

We’ve known for a while now that Cortana will be making her way to Windows 10, bringing the same witty digital personal assistant to PC users. And we now have one of the first images of what Cortana will look like in Microsoft’s upcoming operating system.

The image you see below first showed up a few weeks ago (Nov 17) and is claimed to have been taken by a Chinese OEM with an unconfirmed 989x build of Windows 10. The image shows the Windows 10 taskbar with the high contrast theme applied and a Cortana icon replacing the new search button that sits between the Start button and the Task View button. Neowin has since confirmed the authenticity of the image.

Cortana will reportedly launch on Windows 10 with the same feature set available to the personal assistant on Windows Phone, considering the same backend will be used for both platforms. Although Microsoft may add PC-centric features in due time.

Cortana could make her debut on the Windows 10 Consumer Preview due in January next year, as no more Technical Preview builds are expected this year. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest Windows 10 news, and you can check out our coverage of Microsoft’s flagship OS here.
