Final Windows 8 RTM build number to be 9200? – onmsft.com

While recent rumors suggested that Microsoft had finalized the build number for Windows 8 RTM at build 8888, a new report suggests that Microsoft has voted and agreed on using build 9200 as the final build number for Windows 8.

According to several reports, the final Release to Manufacturing (RTM) build number for Windows 8 will be 9200.16384.WIN8_RTM.120725-1247 and Microsoft has started the compiling process on Wednesday. While build 8888 was set to be the final build number, some unexpected changes took place and build 9200 is being used instead. Microsoft recently announced that Windows 8 would be released on October 26th, 2012. The company also recently announced that the development of Windows 8 was right on track, and that it should reach RTM in August. They also said Windows 8 will be available by the end of October.
