Fedora 14 European Cloud Servers with root access & a 14 day free trial launched today

Zürich, Friday 5 November 2010 – CloudSigma AG, a leading provider of instantly deployable cloud servers is pleased to announce the release of the new Fedora 14 server in its cloud. The new Fedora 14 server image can be instantly deployed to create high performing cloud servers easily.

Patrick Baillie, CEO commented ‘As a platform we try hard to ensure that major releases are incorporated into our library of instantly deployable images as quickly as possible. Fedora is a popular distribution and we are very happy to be one of the first clouds to be able to offer it. Our 14 day free trial is an ideal opportunity for new customers to discover what the latest version has to offer.’

A Cloud Focused on User Control
Each new Fedora 14 server can be added immediately by a user at the click of a button or via API call without provisioning delay. Full root access and control is granted to the customer allowing them to totally customise the server after initial deployment. Drives and servers can then be cloned allowing server clusters to easily be created using a customer’s own customised template.

Will full software level control of cloud servers in the CloudSigma cloud, protecting direct server access is 100% managed by the user. This allows users to implement their own security policies on their servers with regards to operating system, application access and networking firewalls. Other cloud computing platforms just aren’t able to provide the level of control that CloudSigma’s offering achieves.

Patrick Baillie continued ‘Unlike other public cloud platforms, we are committed to giving our customers the maximum level of control and flexibility over their cloud infrastructure. Our open software and networking layers give customers full root access. Our customers customise their servers to closely meet their needs and they are able to stage updates and upgrades to fit with their schedules not ours. Open networking allows our users to implement security policies that directly address their particular use case. Its a fundamentally different approach from other vendors.’

Powerful management tools
CloudSigma concentrates on giving users control of their infrastructure but also handing customers the tools they need to manage their cloud servers that much more easily. That means full API control as well as a full featured web management interface that includes powerful tools to tweak security and access settings as well as performance and computing variables.

Patrick Baillie concluded ‘Our platform delivers a level of control akin to traditional dedicated hardware solutions but combines this with all the flexibility, scalability and transparency that Infrastructure-as-a-Service can offer. Fedora 14 is an ideal software platform to experience this firsthand.’
