EA's Tetris Blitz for Windows Phone now lets you earn medals, compete against others

Are you a fan of the classic game Tetris? Then you will love Tetris Blitz from Electronic Arts, a free game that lets you match your skills against other players in a head-to-head blitz battle. You can even race to victory in limited-time tournaments to see if you have what it takes to be a champion.

The game also features a frenzy mode — where you have to clear lines back-to-back to stay in a frenzy. There is also Xbox Live support so you can compare yourself in a global leaderboard and earn Xbox Live achievements for playing Tetris!

Tetris Blitz was just updated to version 2.0, adding the ability to earn medals when winning battles, as well as the addition of tiers. With tiers, you can determine your rank by how many medals you have won. There are also global and tier leaderboards, which allow you to see how you stack up against other players.

Grab the game from the download link below. Tetris Blitz is free to download and offers optional in-app purchases priced from $0.99 to $99.99. You can disable in-app purchasing using your device settings.

Editor’s note: I can’t get enough of that Tetris theme song!
