Disney Plus streaming service finally launches in the UK, Italy, Austria, Ireland, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland

After an incredibly long wait, Disney’s video streaming service, Disney+, has finally launched in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria and Switzerland.
Disney+ was originally planned to also launch in France today but its debut has been delayed until April 7th after a request from the French government, likely due to an attempt to prevent internet services in the country from being overwhelmed due to COVID-19.
The virus will also be affecting the service in other European countries with resolution being downgraded to Standard instead of HD straight out of the gate.
“In anticipation of high consumer demand for Disney+, we are proactively instituting measures to lower our overall bandwidth utilization by at least 25% in all of the markets launching Disney+ on March 24th,” Disney’s Kevin Mayer said in a statement. “In the coming days, we will be monitoring Internet congestion and working closely with iInternet service providers to further reduce bit rates as necessary to ensure they are not overwhelmed by consumer demand. We look forward to the launch of Disney+ and hope it will provide a much-needed respite for families in these challenging and trying times.”
Other streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon are also limiting their video quality throughout Europe.
Disney+ can be viewed on Xbox One consoles via the official Disney+ app and via a web browser on Windows 10 devices.
