Cortana

Windows Phone 8.1 came with several useful features, with Cortana being one of the main attractions. The voice-assistant is already available in the developer preview, but its localized for devices in the US — although there’s an alternative way to make it work in other regions. It’s expected to reach UK and China soon (rumored for availability in July), with other regions to follow later this year.

If you’re based in Canada, there’s a piece of good news for you. Microsoft has confirmed Cortana will be localized for Canada by the it rolls out in the region. Microsoft Canada’s President, Janet Kennedy demoed the service at the Canadian Telecom Summit during the lunchtime keynote, asking Cortana a few directions and population of Canada. Windows Phone 8.1 is expected to roll out in the region this summer, and Kennedy says Cortana will be localized for the region by that time.
