One of the most popular messaging apps in the world is now officially available as a Windows 10 Universal App. As we reported earlier this summer, Tencent’s WeChat was rumored to be coming to Windows 10. Today, the app went live in the Windows Store and can be downloaded on PC and the Surface Hub.

The Windows Store page lists the following features in WeChat’s description:

WeChat is a lifestyle.

  • Send text, photos, files messages and playback audio messages in chats.
  • View Sight, animated stickers and real-time location shared by friends.
  • Search articles from Official Accounts.
  • Designed for the Windows 10 Universal Platform.

WeChat is a huge hit in China. The app currently has over 1 billion created accounts, 700 million of which are active users. Hopefully, the availability of such a popular messaging app curries favor for Microsoft’s efforts in China, particularly Windows 10’s adoption. You can download WeChat from the Appbox below.
