Azzurri Communications has won the Best Enterprise Unified Communications Solution award at the Comms National Awards.

The submission was based on the work managed service provider Azzurri has done for one of its largest customers, University College London Hospital (UCLH). The solution saw Azzurri implementing the first private mobile network in the NHS and the first full BlackBerry integration in a hospital (for voice and data). The solution also allowed UCLH to experience a successful upgrade of all data, voice and mobile telecommunications infrastructure without requiring any capital expenditure.

In addition to the UC award, Azzurri was honoured at the Comms National Awards as the ‘Reseller of the Year’. This award was not open for general entry; instead it was presented by the judges to the firm that had demonstrated outstanding provision of ICT solutions to customers over the last year.

Further recognition was achieved through Azzurri’s inaugural appearance in the annual Top Track 250 league table supplement, published in The Sunday Times on the 17th October 2010. The league table ranks the UK’s 250 biggest private companies (below the Top Track 100), provided either sales or operating profits increased in their latest available accounts. Sales ranged from £138m to £590m.

Azzurri was placed 224 in the list and was noted for providing ‘IT solutions and managed services such as voice, data, consultancy, networking, print and mobile’ and for serving 25% of FTSE100 companies.

Mark Quartermaine, CEO, Azzurri Communications, said: “Winning the two prestigious awards and being placed in the Top Track 250 is a very strong validation of our market offering. Azzurri is large enough to offer a breadth and depth of products and services to enterprises, but we’re of a size where we can still offer a personal service, and be more agile and flexible than our larger competitors.”
