If you’re looking for a way to customize the lock screen of your Windows Phone handset, take a look at Awesome Lock, an excellent application to make the most out of your lock screen by displaying the latest news, weather info, currency exchange rates, calendar events, tasks, Facebook notifications, tweets and monitor your favorite stocks. Recently, the application received an update, bumping it to version 3.3.0.25, and adding a bunch of new features and enhancements.

You can also customize the lock screen natively by navigating to Settings > Lock screen. However, if you’re in need of some extra functionality and customization options, Awesome Lock can definitely help you out. In addition to the usual bug fixes and improvements, the latest update allows users to display notifications from the most popular social network — Facebook — on the lock screen, along with the ability to add 500px as a background source as well. Here’s a list of new features and enhancements introduced in Awesome Lock v3.3.0.25:

  • Facebook notifications
  • Background: added 500px source to the list
  • Revisited Currency exchange functionality
  • Allow to left align all contents with the system time and date
  • Option to add last updated time to lock screen
  • Battery: added remaining battery duration
  • Bug fixing and other improvements

There’s a free version of the application available as well, but it comes with a limited functionality, and does not offer all the features present in the premium version. It can display weather information, exchange rate for up to 6 currencies, calendar events (limited to 6 events), battery information and has the ability to select background images from Bing, 500px, Gallery or a solid color.

The premium version comes with a $0.99 price tag, but there’s a free trial available for users who wish to check how the application works. Otherwise, hit the Windows Phone Store link below to download the free application.
