A Reddit user by the name of tatty000 was recently told in an email conversation with Avenza staff that the company would soon be discontinuing support for their Avenza Maps app on the Windows Phone platform.
“Avenza is planning to end support for Windows phones,” the email states before clarifying that this doesn’t mean that the app will be removed from the app store or cease functioning. “While Avenza Maps will continue to work in its current state and you can continue using it, Windows will not be receiving updates and new features.”
The discontinuation of updates might frustrate current users but it should come as a relief to many to hear that at least people will be able to keep using the current version if they so wish.
