If you’re the owner of a Lumia 640 XL, you might want to head over to your system settings and check for a software upgrade. After several months of waiting, AT&T has finally pushed out the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade to the device (Via Neowin.)
Word on the update becoming available was first spread on this AT&T Community Forums page, where an AT&T Cares administrator pointed out (on October 29th) that the upgrade requires a user to opt in and download the Windows Upgrade Advisor application. According to Neowin, the upgrade was approved last week, but because of this “opt-in” requirement, notifications were not pushed out to let users know that the upgrade was available. Some eagled eyed Redditors, however, also noticed that the upgrade was available, and had posted about the upgrade experience on the website over the past day.
The release of Windows 10 Mobile for the Lumia 640 XL comes about five months after AT&T released the upgrade to the device’s younger sibling, the Lumia 640.
