Asphalt Overdrive now available on Windows Phone — get ready to race

Asphalt Overdrive

Asphalt Overdrive, the newest installation from Gameloft, is now available on the Windows Phone store. The game is free, but features in-game purchases, which we are not huge fans of, but Gameloft has done a decent job of it not ruining your experience in the past, so we will give them the benefit of the doubt.

If the title sounds familiar, it’s because Gameloft is also the maker of Asphalt 8: Airborne, one of the most popular Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone (racing) games. That by itself is enough of a reason to check this new title out.

Asphalt Overdrive is a mission-based racing game with 30 cars for you to unlock. And these are not ‘fake cars’, no sir. You get fully licensed vehicles that include classics such as the Lamborghini Countach and Ferrari Testarossa. In addition to the classic cars, the Southern California highways and music further push a subtle retro feel to the game.

The gameplay offers seven different types of racing experiences including, escaping the police, defeating bosses, avoiding obstacles, and more. Further, you have can connect with your friends via Facebook for a more social experience. If that is not competitive enough, you can compete in League events to try to go to the top of the leader boards. If you’re a fan of racing games, you can download it via the link below.

If that hasn’t convinced you, check out the trailer. Does anyone else think it feels a lot like Grand Theft Auto?
