Apple still dominates tablet usage in North America, Microsoft in the top five

According to a new chart by Statista, citing data from Chitika as of April 2014, Apple continues to reign supreme when it comes to tablet-based web traffic in North America. Microsoft, on the other hand, is in the top five but still has a long ways to go.

For those that did not know, Chitika tracks tablet usage based on tablet-based impressions in its ad network. No competing brand even comes close to Apple, as the company accounted for 77.2% of tablet-based web usage in North America. Samsung and Amazon were second and third place, respectively, but were dwarfed in comparison.

Microsoft recently unveiled the 12-inch Surface Pro 3 and hopes to create a dent in Apple’s tablet market share. While the reception and early reviews seem positive, only time will tell if the Surface Pro 3 will help Microsoft or not. Either way, Microsoft has a long road and a tough battle ahead in order to catch up to Apple in the tablet market space.
