AMD’s Ryzen 5 9600X has dropped to $183 on Amazon US, giving it a clear price advantage just days before Intel launches its competing Core Ultra 5 250K Plus at $199. This six-core Zen 5 processor now sits about $17 lower than Intel’s starting price, which puts pressure on Intel right at launch and gives budget buyers a strong reason to look at AMD first.
Amazon price trackers show the $183 listing, even though the product page itself did not highlight a featured offer at the time of checking.
Intel announced the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus on March 11 and plans retail availability from March 26. In its official materials, Intel shows both chips performing similarly in gaming, while claiming large gains in productivity workloads.
Intel says the 250K Plus delivers up to 85% higher Blender performance, up to 89% better Cinebench 2026 multithread scores, and up to 103% higher 3DMark CPU Profile Max Threads results compared to the Ryzen 5 9600X.
These figures come from Intel’s own testing setup, so real-world results will become clearer after independent reviews, but for now AMD holds the pricing edge in this segment.
