With the kerfuffle of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL not making it to other carriers beyond AT&T quietly simmering into non-relevant news, Windows Phone fans may be able to look to T-Mobile for the next available Windows 10 Mobile device. The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is being reported by Windows Central to be nearing a release date on the third ranked US carrier with more pricing information included.
Sources spoke to the crew over at Windows Central claiming that the 5.5 inch Windows 10 Mobile handset could be arriving as soon as Wednesday, February 10 on T-Mobile shelves. Perhaps even more impressive, the phone is planned to be released as a no-contract phone for the reasonable price $139 US.
For industry watchers, the phone should be launching with the latest Windows 10 Mobile build rather than the build Lumia 950 and 950 XL owners received at the end of November. Thanks to some recently revealed T-Mobile support documentations, the OneTouch Fierce XL should be toting build 1058.63 which is the same build Insiders received last week with pronounced bug fixes and stability patches.
While T-Mobile has yet to openly confirm or deny Windows Central’s sources’ claims, customers on the carrier can, for now, ready themselves for rather impressive mid-to-high end phone experience sorely lacking on the carrier network for the Windows 10 Mobile platform. Other known specs for the OneTouch Fierce XL include 2GB RAM coupled with 16GB on-device storage, an 8 MP front-facing camera, and support for VoLTE, FCC mandated anti-theft protection.
Fans of the more traditionally eye-catching colors of Windows Phone will also be pleasantly surprised at a carrier exclusive color option of Cyan for the phone. We’ll keep an eye out as the story develops, and update accordingly.
