This neat Excel feature will let you record repetitive spreadsheet tasks

Previously, Excel users were heavily dependent on the Office Scripts Code Editor to create and modify automations using JavaScript and TypeScript. This approach was quite tedious and required the users to have a bit of experience in programming.

But now, Microsoft has added a new feature to Excel that will make it easier for both Windows and Mac users to record repetitive spreadsheet tasks. The new feature dubbed Action Recorder not only allows users to record repetitive spreadsheet tasks but also lets them replay the Office Scripts.

To access the feature, you need a stable internet connection, a commercial (E3/E5), or Education Microsoft 365 subscription, and finally, you'll need to have Microsoft Edge WebView2 installed though this applies to Windows users only.

If you're an Office Insider, you must be running on Windows: Version 2212 (Build 15922.20000) or later or Mac: Version 16.68 (Build 22120101) or later. We invite you to visit Microsoft's blog post which details how to make use of this feature.

In related news, Microsoft incorporated Automate tab in Excel for Windows and Mac users to help them automate tasks. Share your thoughts with us in the comment section.
