As the Surface Pro 6, Surface Laptop 2 and Surface Studio 2 settle into their relatively new refresh cycles, the Surface Book 2 remains an outlyer in Microsoft’s updated hardware line.
The Surface Book 2 has had a rather sporadic refresh cycle and the trend looks like it will continue as new variant listings surface at online retail sites that include entry-level models with updated quad-core Intel Core i5-8350U processors.
Microsoft has a new #Surface Book 2 variant with Intel Core i5-8350U (1,7/3,6ghz) quadcore, 8/256GB coming. 1499 USD MSRP. Seems to be commercial only at first, shipping in a few weeks. Likely replacing entry level i5-7300U (dualcore) model: https://t.co/672b0ONHoH

Aside from the chipset bump, the rest of the Surface Book 2 remains relatively untouched including the same 8GB of RAM and 256GB PCIe SSD as the previously released Surface Book 2 model. The hardware also remains the same, with identical 13.5 inch Pixel Sense 3:2 aspect ratio display, SD card reader, USB-C and USB 3.1 ports and proprietary charging port.
Fortunately, customers aren’t paying an absorbent amount for a beefier processor, instead the Surface Book 2 comes in at the same price as its 2017 predecessor at $1,499 US or 1569 euros.
Some outlets have the updated Surface Book 2 hitting store shelves as soon as a couple of weeks.
