157,252 total apps in the Windows Store and the top Windows 8.1 apps as of April 27th

It’s Sunday, May 4th, and its time to take a look at the Windows Store, which is home to both Windows 8.1 and Windows RT apps. Let’s take a look at the total app count, which apps are at the top of the charts, and highlight some new apps for our readers. Lets begin!

As of May 4th, there are now 158,475 apps in the Windows Store. The top-five free apps in the United States are Facebook, Skype, Asphalt 8 Airborne, Another Case Solved, and Google Search. The top-five paid apps in the United States are Plex, Machinarium, Halo Spartan Assault, Wheel of Fortune, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

The top-five free and paid lists appear to be unaffected compared to last week, with the exception of Another Case Solved. This app for Windows 8.1 places you center stage as a private detective looking to solve a series of quirky cases by gathering clues, tracking down witnesses, and questioning suspects to reveal the truth behind this city’s sugarcoated secret. This app is free and has received decent success in the Windows Store since its release.
