WinBeta Readers – if our antivirus feature offended you, we would like to apologize

Dear Readers

Hello everyone,

My name is Michael Archambault and I would like to take a quick moment to apologize for a feature that we posted last week that caused offense to a majority of our community. I recently joined the awesome staff here at WinBeta to provide exciting how-tos, reviews, and editorials, surrounding the Microsoft ecosystem. If you have not so far, I recommend you checking out our Back to School Guide for 2014 and an opinion piece we published on Google’s Chromebooks vs. Microsoft’s new affordable PCs.

Last week, we published an article entitled “PSA: Your free antivirus solution is not good enough – let us set you straight”. While we stand behind the technical information within the piece (it was sourced from our friends at PC Mag in addition to decades of personal experience), we understand that the article’s overall attitude may have come across as offensive; I place this blame on myself, as I can sometimes have a sarcastic writing style that attempts to inspire humor, but it did not sit well amongst the community. Therefore, from my heart to the all of our readers and friends – I apologize.

I have also gone ahead and edited the article slightly, as to remove any negative connotations from the piece. If you are interested in the article, you can check it out and its new title by clicking here.

After a history at Pocketables.com and Windows Phone Central, I am happy to have landed at WinBeta as your new Features Editor. I am excited for the future and I truly hope we can all be friends going forward! I cannot wait to meet each one of you by interacting in the comments below and via our various social media pages on Twitter and Facebook.

P.S. – There is actually an Easter egg hidden within the antivirus article – can you find it?

-Michael Archambault
