Microsoft has partnered with HP and Daly Computers Inc and will assist in rolling out 150,000 HP Elitebook 810 Revolve devices, powered by Windows 8.1, to Baltimore County public school students and teachers. This is part of the company’s initiative to transform teaching and learning.
“Together with Hewlett Packard and Daly Computers Inc. we’re helping the district rollout 150,000 HP Elitebook 810 Revolve Windows 8.1 devices to all students and teachers over the next four years. Also, through our Student Advantage offer, the district which is already providing Office to faculty and staff, can now offer the productivity suite to students at no additional cost,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
Just recently, we reported that Microsoft, along with various other giants such as Acer, Asus, HP, Toshiba, etc, will work to bring low-cost Windows devices to US schools starting at under $300. Microsoft believes that these devices are just the first step in an initiative to have a true and significant impact in education, as well as transform learning methods.
Beginning with this upcoming school year, students from K to 5th grade will be specifically selected by the school district to begin the pilot phase of this district-wide transformation to a digital learning environment.
