As expected, Rajeev Suri is likely to become the new CEO of Nokia. According to Helsingin Sanomat newspaper, which also originally broke this story, Nokia will officially name India-born Suri as its next Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday. He is also expected to outline the company’s new strategy with a focus on its network equipment business.
On Tuesday, the company will make public its first-quarter results. Along with that, it will also discuss the amount of money it will pay to the shareholders. The newspaper says Nokia will abandon the name NSN (Nokia Solutions and Networks) over time.
Nokia’s $7.2 billion acquisition deal with Microsoft is expected to close today. We will also learn the revised terms of the agreement, if any. Nokia’s Chennai-based factory, which is one of company’s largest plants is reportedly not being transferred to Microsoft, which could affect the original agreement. Over the coming days, Nokia will also reveal its future plans.
46-year-old Rajeev Suri, has been spearheading Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) since October 1, 2009. He is often credited for driving up NSN’s revenue. Fun fact: Suri, much like the new Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, had studied at the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), once an affiliate of Mangalore University.
