Fall Guys gets delayed after summer 2021 on Xbox and Switch

Fall Guys, one of the most popular new games of 2020 won’t be released in summer 2021 on Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Developer Mediatonic apologized earlier today for the unexpected delay and didn’t provide a new release date for Xbox and Switch players, but the additional time will allow the team to work on new features including crossplay support.

“While we want to launch on these platforms as quickly as possible, we believe the Switch and Xbox releases are really going to be worth waiting for and we’re super grateful for your patience. This delay gives our team some time to add features like crossplay, so when we add new platforms, players will be able to stumble in harmony with their pals, regardless of their platform of choice,” Mediatonic wrote today.

Fall Guys initially launched on PlayStation 4 and Windows back in August 2020, and the platform battle royale game became an instant hit thanks to its day one inclusion on Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service. Developer Mediatonic has since been acquired by Epic Games, which will likely help the company to implement crossplay in Fall Guys.

“We’re continuing to grow the team to best meet community expectations and deliver top notch future content,” Mediatonic said today. In addition to Fall Guys, Among Us, one of the biggest multiplayer games of 2020 is also coming to Xbox consoles this year, though it still has no release date.
