Facebook rolls out Bing-powered translation tool

Facebook is rolling out a new feature that utilizes Microsoft’s Bing search engine to translate posts on a Facebook Page. Basically, one can now view a Facebook Page even if it was written in a different language, all thanks to Bing Translate.

“With this service, we are making it even easier for people to enjoy Page content on Facebook regardless of the languages that they know. After their generated translation has received enough positive votes, it will replace the Bing translation and will appear each time someone clicks on the translate button associated with the post,” Facebook stated.

If you happen to stumble upon a Facebook page that is written in a different language, fear not. Microsoft’s Bing will now translate posts directly inline on the social giant’s website, all thanks to Bing Translate.

When a Facebook user clicks on the translate button on a public Page post, the Bing translation will appear in a window. Users will also be able to submit their own translations by using the inline translation feature.

Page admins can also control how their content is translated within the “Your Settings” tab in the Edit Page view.

“Bing is excited that its friends at Facebook have now implemented the API to enhance their site with real-time, in-place translation. Bing had nothing new to report about any integration partnerships with Facebook,” a Microsoft spokesperson stated regarding the new Facebook translation feature.
