The objective in Tetris Blitz is simple – you must race against the clock to clear lines and rack up as many points as possible before time runs out. The game was recently updated for Windows Phone to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tetris, bringing along new tournaments and avatars.
“Feel the frenzy as you race against the clock in a two-minute sprint to clear lines and rack up as many points as possible before time runs out! Tetris Blitz is an exciting new twist on the world famous puzzle game,” the app description reads. You can earn high scores by supercharging your game and triggering point-boosting reactions with Power-ups such as Magnet, Laser, and Time Shift.
The game lets you experience explosive effects and earn double points when you trigger the Frenzy mode. All you have to do is clear lines back to back in order to stay in Frenzy and watch as stunning cascades keep the points coming in. You can even earn Xbox Live achievements with Tetris Blitz and compete on the Xbox Live leaderboards. Tournaments will reset weekly so you can have a chance to climb the ladder to victory!
In celebration of Tetris’ 30th anniversary, Tetris Blitz features Retro Tournaments that allow you to experience the original game with a retro-skinned gameplay, along with power-ups, finishers, and 80’s inspired Tetris music. The update also adds new avatars.
